Beausoleil with Matthew Doucet
August 25th, 7pm
Light Hall Theater
UPDATE:
We have been informed that Michael Doucet has had emergency surgery on his elbow and will not be able to make this tour. He will be replaced by his son, Matthew Doucet.
A message from the band:
“We are all very sorry Michael had a freak accident and fractured his elbow and cannot make this tour. He’s in a lot of pain and it will take a while for him to recover.
Meanwhile, he wants us to continue to deliver quality entertainment that we have for the past 50 years despite him not being with us.
Michael’s son Matthew is joining us, playing fiddle and triangle. Please keep Michael in your thoughts so that he will heal quickly! Thanks for having us! We appreciate it!”
For 50 years, Two-time Grammy winner BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet have been hailed as “the best Cajun band in the world.” Doucet and the band can be credited with taking Cajun music from its regional roots in Louisiana to popularity worldwide. Born from their rich Acadian ancestry BeauSoleil’s distinctive sound derives from the distilled spirits of New Orleans jazz, blues rock, folk, swamp pop, Zydeco, country and bluegrass. Driven by bandleader Michael Doucet’s spellbinding fiddle playing and soulful vocals, BeauSoleil brings even the most staid audience to its feet.
